At 2:05 a.m. Aug. 11, two women in their 20s were walking east on Hornblend Street near Haines Street when two men in a pick-up truck asked them for directions. One of the women approached the truck, and as she did, one of the men grabbed the purse that was hanging from her shoulder, according to officials from the San Diego Police Department (SDPD). The woman was dragged alongside the vehicle for approximately a half block before the men made off with the purse, said Detective Wetzel with the SDPD’s Northern Division. The woman’s friend called 911, and police began searching for the suspects. A police helicopter was also dispatched. At 2:30 a.m. police pulled over the two suspects who were traveling eastbound on State Road 52 near the Regents exit. The victim’s purse was found in the truck and the men were arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault.
