DOWNTOWN — Todd Bluechel founded Fish. Food. Feel Good. six months ago after discovering a way feed thousands of area homeless people. Bluechel was honored by District 2 City Councilman Kevin Faulconer and Father Joe Carroll at a ceremony Dec. 16. The nonprofit organization has provided fish for 19,800 meals for organizations such as Father Joe’s Villages and the San Diego Rescue Mission since it began in June. Bluechel, an avid fisherman, lives downtown. He noticed when he would return from fishing trips that yellowfin, yellowtails, bluefin and albacore would go unused. He created Fish. Food. Feel Good., which collects surplus fish from local sport fishermen and then donates it to local charities. “I’ve created an easy way for fishermen and boat crews to concert what would otherwise be unwanted fish into nutritious meals for those in need,” Bluechel said.
