I have a concern about the La Jolla Kiwanis Club posting signs and flyers all over the bike path that runs through the Bird Rock area to Nautilus Street. The signs and flyers are bolted into trees, with five or six large bolts per tree. 1. The bolts are damaging to the trees. 2. The bolts and signs qualify as litter, which is offensive. 3. The Kiwanis are advertising in an attempt to collect money to “mow weeds” at one of the few “natural” wildlife areas in our urban area. 4. The Kiwanis proclaim: “It is now time” to do this service! Who exactly are they representing? This is public property that they are attempting to control! 5. They actually state that “all contributions are tax deductible.” They are planning this “action” on Saturday, April 2. — Pat R. lives in Bird Rock.
