MISSION BAY — The Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute invites the public to attend “Learning in Human-Dolphin Interactions at Zoological Facilities,” a free, brown bag seminar held Thursday, Sept. 19 at noon in the Hubb’s-Seaworld Research Institute’s Shedd Auditorium. The lecture will feature the research findings of Dr. Diane Sweeney, the creative resources director for Dolphin Quest, from her doctoral dissertation for the University of California, San Diego’s Education Studies Program. Dr. Sweeney interviewed visitors, spectators and trainers at SeaWorld and other zoological facilities about the learning experiences of adult participants in human-dolphin interactions. She will discuss the positive benefits of human-dolphin interactions, including participants feeling closer to the environment and a stronger responsibility to protect it. To attend this free seminar, reserve space by calling (619) 226-3870. Space is limited and will be reserved on a first come first served basis.
