DOWNTOWN — The Breakfast Club will host a panel discussion regarding the preparedness of San Diego County’s fire protection agencies in 2010, moderated by NBC San Diego’s Gene Cubbison. The discussion will take place in the Harborside Room at the Holiday Inn San Diego On The Bay today, Aug. 31 at 7:30 a.m. Panelists including Erik Bruvold, president of National University System Institute for Policy Research; Chief Steward Gary, principal of Fire and Emergency Services and Citygate Associates LLC; Chief Augie Ghio, president of San Diego County Fire Chiefs Association; Dianne Jacob, Supervisor of the County of San Diego; and Chief Javier Mainar, fire chief of San Diego Fire-Rescue Department will make candid assessments on how far San Diego County’s fire safety measures, communication improvements and fire safety resources have come. — MARIKO LAMB
