SAN DIEGO — Californians for Patient Care is an independent nonprofit healthcare resource for those with no health insurance or who are underinsured. On its website is a searchable directory of statewide information regarding primary, dental, vision, mental care, veterans services, homeless shelters or prescription assistance. It lists over 400 providers in San Diego County, according to a memo released by the entity. “We want to get the word out that we are a community resource not only for the underserved but for the newly uninsured individuals who have fallen on hard times [who] never before had to access community clinic or health centers and are fearful of doing so or worried about the stigma,” said Corinne Chee, spokeswoman for Californians for Patient Care.
