An on-duty lifeguard who suffered a serious injury when performing a rescue in La Jolla has been released from the hospital, San Diego Lifeguards officials confirmed. The lifeguard was in the water and hit by a wave at Windansea Beach at approximately 7:30 p.m. Aug. 14. Officials said that, due to regulations, they were not able to talk about the type of injuries the lifeguard sustained. The lifeguard was taken to UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest and was released Monday. – NBC7
