OB Historical Society
to host tea, social
The Ocean Beach Historical Society will sponsor its annual Wisteria Tea Party on Saturday, March 22. The tea party will provide residents an opportunity to gather and talk about all things OB, said organizers.
“It’s a chance for people to get together that are interested in the history and the historical society and socialize,” said historical society president Pat James, “and just have a nice time under a beautiful wisteria.”
The tea party is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the historical home of vice chair and past president Ned Titlow, 4761 Niagara Ave. In the event of rain, the tea party and social will be moved under cover to the Point Loma Methodist Church.
At the party, there will be a variety of teas, homemade lemonade and small snacks. There will also be a prize drawing and a talk on herbal teas and plants by local horticulturist John Noble, owner of Coastal Sage.
The historical society is asking for a minimum $5 donation to attend the event. For more information, visit www.obhistory.wordpress.com.
Yancey speaks to clergy at PLNU’s Pastors Day
An estimated 150 pastors from the greater San Diego area participated recently in the third annual Pastors Day at Point Loma Nazarene University.
Pastors Day provides a means for clergy from multiple denominations to network and fellowship and to be honored for their service.
This year, the event featured notable Christian author Philip Yancey, who spoke at the university’s morning chapel service. Following chapel, the group mingled in the Friendship Plaza before entering Ellipse Chapel, where selected PLNU students presented tributes themed “What My Pastor Means to Me.”
Yancey challenged pastors to seek new ways to make a difference. Yancey’s message was also seen via video simulcast at the Arcadia and Bakersfield regional centers for Nazarene pastors who were unable to make the drive to San Diego.
