Seats open to serve on MB Planning Board The Mission Beach Precise Planning Board (MBPPB) is seeking representatives to serve the community. The primary purpose of the MBPPB is to advise the city on issues in Mission Beach and to review building plans and zoning and code issues.  Members must be willing to donate about three hours a month to attend board meetings.  Regular meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Community Room at Belmont Park, except August and December. To be an eligible community member to serve on the board, applicants must be at least 18 years old and must be a property owner, resident or own or manage a local business with a business address in the area for which he or she is a candidate. Representatives are needed in the following areas: • Area I: between San Diego Place and the south side of Capistrano Place • Area II: between the north side of Capistrano Place and the south side of West Mission Bay Drive and Ventura Place • Area V: between the north side of San Jose Place and the south side of Pacific Beach Drive. Anyone interested in becoming involved is urged to call MBPPB Chairwoman Debbie Watkins at (858) 344-1684. PB planners looking to fill vacancy Pacific Beach Planning Group has one board vacancy in census tract CT 83.01. This tract is located east of Soledad Road and north of Loring Street.  Potential applicants who live in this tract are invited to participate in the development and future planning in Pacific Beach. For more information, contact Damon Westwood at [email protected], or call (858) 866-0696.  If a resident from this census tract does not complete an election packet, a resident from another Pacific Beach census tract can fill the vacancy.    Discover PB sets May 22 restaurant walk Discover Pacific Beach will host “The Coast of Pacific Beach Restaurant Walk” on Tuesday, May 22 between 4 and 9 p.m. The cost is $20 in advance or $25 on the day of, and will include samples from over 20 local restaurants. Tickets can purchased at Fillippi’s Pizza Grotto (962 Garnet Ave.) or Tony Roma’s (4110 Mission Blvd.). Senior Fair will cover gamut of topics Learn everything from self-defense tips, avoiding financial scams and laughter yoga during a free fair for older adults. The event, called “Age Strong: Be a Savvy Senior,” will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 19 at the Pacific Beach/Taylor Branch Library, 4275 Cass St. There’s also an opportunity to chat with representatives from AARP, Aging & Independence Services, San Diego County Mental Health and ElderHelp of San Diego. More activities include a tai chi class, health screenings, technology for beginners and fitness classes. Free food and drinks will be available.
