Three arrested in attempted home robbery Three men attempted to rob a home in the 6800 block of Condon Street in University City on Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. When the men rang the doorbell, the woman in the house went to look through the peephole but did not answer the door, according to police reports. She reportedly heard one of the men say, “Let’s go through the backdoor.” The woman hid in the bathroom and called 911. Two of the suspects who were leaving the house when police arrived attempted to run. One of the men escaped over a fence into the canyon but was later apprehended on a nearby street. The third suspect hid in the home’s attic and allegedly refused to surrender until police sent in a canine, which bit the suspect, according to Allen Alvarez, spokesman for the San Diego Police Department’s Northern Division. The suspects apparently had stolen $1,000. Alvarez called the robbery “random.” Sammy’s holds toy drive Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza is preparing to fire up its annual children’s toy drive for kids and adolescents at the San Diego Center for Children, many of whom will remain in residential care at the center through the holidays.
