Kennedy to lead research council San Diego businesswoman and community leader Katherine Kennedy has been named the chair of the newly-formed Scripps Research California Council. The council was formed to raise awareness about The Scripps Research Institute within philanthropic communities and to introduce the institute’s work to new audiences who will promote the organization within their own networks. In her new volunteer role, Kennedy will lead a group of prominent individuals who will try to increase philanthropic support for the biomedical research facility. Kennedy is founder, president and CEO of Relocation Coordinates, a company that manages corporate relocations, and is also co-founder and chair of Relocation Information Systems, which provides a Web-based relocation management software application. Resident launches private investment company University City resident Marc Channick has launched a new independent investment firm, Delphi Private Advisors, at 4747 Executive Drive. Channick opened the firm in February along with business partners Keith McKenzie and Darren Reinig. Delphi is a fee-based registered investment advisor (RIA) that will provide clients with investment strategy and management as well as active tax management services. The group will also partner with its clients’ other advisors to assist with setting up sophisticated wealth transfer and charitable giving strategies. Channick graduated from Harvard Law School in 1994 and practiced law for 10 years in the public and private sectors before becoming an advisor at Bernstein Global Wealth Management. He is also active in the community, serving on the investment committees of the Jewish Community Foundation, Jewish Family Services and Senior Community Centers. Mosaic Catering names new VP The Ladeki Restaurant Group has named La Jolla resident Rod Coon as vice president of Mosaic Catering. Coon has more than 20 years of special event, business and personal catering experience in San Diego. In 1999, he founded Contemporary Catering in La Jolla, where he handled daily operations and created menus and concepts for events. Coon has also been involved in community events; he coordinated the Gaslamp Festival downtown, managed the Beer Garden service at XXXII SuperFest and handled liquor service management for Street Scene for 12 years. Real estate agent earns national designation La Jolla real estate agent Irene McCann of Coldwell Banker earned the Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI) designation from the California Association of Realtors. The GRI was developed for members of the National Realtors Association (NAR) and is administered at the state level. The distinction is recognized nationwide within the real estate industry as an indicator of professionalism and a strong commitment to education, according to the NAR Web site. To earn the GRI, agents must complete 90 hours of real estate coursework on topics including marketing, negotiating, ethics and technology. McCann is a native of La Jolla.
