She was a 2005 second-team selection in field hockey in the Western League and a first-team, all-league lacrosse selection for the last two years. She was also a U.S. Lacrosse National Academic All-American the last two years in a row. Hoehn was the recipient of the 2005 Unsung Hero Award in Bishop’s lacrosse. Hoehn will attend Dartmouth College. O’Neil is a skilled former gymnast, who turned handsprings the length of the football field at Bish Bowl. She made the transition to soccer and track in the 10th grade so that she could participate on Bishop’s teams. She holds three varsity letters in each sport. As captain of the soccer team in her senior year, she made all-Coastal Conference second team. She captained the Bishop’s track and field team in both her junior and senior years. O’Neil led Bishop’s undefeated team to a Coastal Conference Championship in the spring of 2006, winning four gold medals and successfully defending her titles in the 100- and 200-meter dash for the third year in a row. She also was a member of the champion 400-meter relay teams for the past three years and named 2006 Coastal Conference Outstanding Performer. O’Neil will attend Swarthmore (Pa.) College. On the boys side, Nick Lake amassed an astounding 11 varsity letters; three for basketball, four for cross-country, three in volleyball and one in track and field. He was inducted into the Cum Laude Society this spring. He ran four years in cross-country and served as captain in his senior year, leading the team to the CIF title in 2005. He qualified for the state meet for three consecutive years and was a Coastal South cross-country champion last fall. As captain of Bishop’s basketball team, Lake was chosen first team all-league, all-CIF selection and led the Coastal Conference in scoring and rebounding. In the spring season of his senior year, this scholar-athlete helped lead both the volleyball team to the CIF quarterfinals and the boys track team to the Conference championship while qualifying for the CIF finals in the 800 meters and the mile. At this point, time could only have stood still for him to play the lead in Shakespeare’s “Pericles.” Lake will attend Princeton University, where, for the time being, at least, he will play basketball for the Tigers.
