Home invasion robbery hits PB residence Four male adults, one with a shotgun and two with pistols, broke into a Pacific Beach residence in the 1500 block of Hornblend St. at 2:05 a.m. Dec. 2, according to a San Diego Police Department report. The group entered the home, held the occupants at gunpoint and left with a television, a laptop computer, a wallet and a cell phone. The suspects were wearing hoodies and caps. The police robbery division is investigating. CleanPB launch is Dec. 5 The public is invited to the CleanPB campaign launch December 5, 9 a.m. to noon, on the boardwalk at the end of Grand Avenue. CleanPB is sponsored by the Pacific Beach Town Council and the San Diego Art Institute. The CleanPB campaign is all about the idea of CLEAN – Community Litter Education and Awareness Network. The emphasis is on community, raising awareness and educating people. “Let’s Talk Trash” and “Keep it Clean” are just two of the many humorous and eye-catching slogans on T-shirts, tote bags, posters and coasters that will be given away to help spread the word. Volunteers are needed to clean up and to help distribute the CleanPB materials. Students earn community service hours. For more information, visit www.CleanPB.com Discover PB installs board Discover Pacific Beach held its annual dinner Nov. 19 and installed its new board members. The new board members are: Eddie Okino, Turquoise Coffee; Graham Duck, San Diego National Bank, now a part of US Bank; Doug Sondomowicz, PB Shore Club; Dr. Rob Buechel, Renew Integrative Health Center (re-elected to consecutive term); Jim Chester, Catamaran Resort; and Pat Walsh, Stay Classy, Inc. Special Recognition Awards were also presented to: Marcie Beckett, Outstanding BeachFest Volunteer; Eric Lingenfelder, Verant Group, Community Patron Award; Bernie Houck, Mike Duran Community Spirit Award (with PB Town Council); and Cheryl Wooten, Scripps, Outstanding Volunteer. Registration opens for youth sports leagues • The Mission Bay Girls Softball registration is now open. Register online at http://www.eteamz.-com/mbsl. Registration includes insurance, uniform, professional umpires, team photo, participation trophy and skills clinic. Scholarships are available. • Registration for the Pacific Beach Recreation Center Winter 2010 Youth Basketball League is through Dec. 9. Divisions are for kids 8-10, 11-12 and 13-14. The league draft will be Dec. 12. The season will start Jan. 9. Register at PB Rec Center, 1405 Diamond St. A birth certificate must be provided.
