Planning Commission to hear planned expansion
The city’s Planning Commission will take action to approve, alter or deny development permits for a project adding a 1,200-square-foot addition to the Village Marine Tec., a water purification system retail outlet at 2820 Shelter Island Drive.
Commissioners will hear the project Thursday, Dec. 6 at the City Administration Building, 202 C St., 12th floor, at 9 a.m. The project was found categorically exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act on June 18. The deadline to appeal the exemption was July 9. The commission’s decision on Dec. 6 can be appealed to the City Council. Appellants must be present at the hearing and file a speaker slip or write the commission before the end of the hearing.
Tree-lighting event to focus on disabilities
To help raise awareness for those living with disabilities, Easter Seals Southern California has partnered with the Hilton San Diego Resort to organize the "Tree of Hope" tree-lighting ceremony Sunday, Dec. 2.
The public is invited to the hotel grounds, located at 1775 East Mission Bay Drive, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. for an evening of carols, hot chocolate, cider and cookies.
Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elves will also make an appearance before they light up a 35-foot-tall Christmas tree.
The event is free, but bringing a new, unwrapped toy for donation is suggested.
Space is limited and RSVPs may be made by calling (760) 737-3990.
For information bout the programs and the tree-lighting event, visit www.SouthernCal.Easter-Seals.com.
Shoe drive to benefit American Cancer Society
The owners of Addie’s Studio are helping get cancer victims back on their feet this holiday season with their fourth annual shoe drive for the American Cancer Society.
From Dec. 4 through 29, donors are invited to drop off new or slightly used athletic shoes at the Pacific Beach location, 4440 Ingraham St., or University City location, 8935 Towne Centre Drive, Ste. 105. Addie’s will include a pair of new athletic socks with each donation.
Owners of the personal training studio, Tyler and Addie Merrill, said they were inspired to start the shoe drive after working with cancer survivors at their studio.
For information visit www.addiesstudio.com or call (858) 483-2711.
