C2 Education is asking students of La Jolla’s art community to dream bigger — and the result will make its debut on Saturday, April 16 at the La Jolla Riford Library. The unveil of student artwork, called the C2 Gallery of Dreams, is a part of the grand opening of C2 Education’s second San Diego location in La Jolla. C2 Education is a network of subject tutoring, SAT/ACT test help, college readiness and educational support centers. C2 serves more than 12,000 students and their families each week at about 140 company centers nationwide, including its two San Diego County locations in Scripps Ranch and La Jolla. The company will open three more locations in San Diego County this year. Students will present their dream artwork for a chance to win the grand prize of $1,000 toward a college scholarship. A weekend-long voting campaign ends at the La Jolla Open Aire Farmers Market on Sunday, April 17. “La Jolla has a strong art community, and we wanted to showcase that with our Gallery of Dreams to celebrate the community’s creativity and help students get a cash cushion to start the roadmap to the college of their dreams,” said Phillip Ayres, C2 Education San Diego district manager. “We invite students of La Jolla to take advantage of this opportunity to get inspired and dream big through art.” The second-place winner will receive a cash prize of $750, and third place will receive $250. All additional students that participate will receive a $30 gift card to Warwick’s Bookstore to continue dreaming bigger. The library is located at 7555 Draper Ave. The deadline for students to complete artwork is Thursday, April 14. La Jolla students interested in participating should contact [email protected] for details. To vote for the best artwork in the Gallery of Dreams, stop by the La Jolla Riford Library on Saturday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. or La Jolla’s Open Aire Farmers Market on Sunday, April 17.
