OBCDC seeks applicants for board of directors
The Ocean Beach Community Development Corporation is currently seeking applicants for the organization’s board of directors.
According to Ann Kelsey, a member of the OBCDC board, interested parties are being sought to join the board and help push forward efforts with the Ocean Beach entryway enhancement and other projects.
The need for new membership stems from a number of members leaving the Ocean Beach area, according to Kelsey.
The board will be attempting to fill as many as four positions.
Although elections will be held before the end of the year to determine new board members, applications are due Oct. 15. Interested applicants will be asked to participate in the OBCDC’s regular meeting Oct. 16. Successful candidates will be announced Nov. 27.

Navy fuel project to force temporary road closure
Navy officials are planning a tempory road closure at the main gate of Naval Base Point Loma on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
According to a press statement from the base Public Affairs Office, the closure will be done to facilitate the construction of the new fuel product recovery system to aid environmental cleanup activities surrounding an existing plume of fuel from the base into the ocean off Point Loma
Navy officials said signage will indicate the detour routes. Inbound and outbound traffic will be routed through the McClelland Road gate east of Cabrillo Monument Drive.

‘Newport Nights’ returns for second time Saturday
Street merchants and residents will mingle Saturday during the return of the Ocean Beach MainStreet Association’s “Newport Nights” on Saturday, Sept. 29.
The event will feature an art walk, live music, food and drink in an event to promote community spirit and togetherness.
