Mission Beach input needed on recycling
The city is asking Mission Beach residents for their opinions on a recycling program for their community.
While residential recycling is now mandatory, Mission Beach does not yet have a recycling program other than individuals voluntarily separating their recyclables and taking them to one of the collection bins in the community.
The city would like to establish a program that will work in this unique community where the large blue bins do not fit in many of the side yards. Residents are being asked to complete an online survey regarding recycling.
Please go to missionbeachtc.org and click on the link for the survey on the home page.
Taylor Library hosts salsa dancing Wednesday
The Earl & Birdie Taylor Library is hosting “Salsa Under the Stars” Wednesday, Aug. 13. From 7 to 8 p.m., Manny Cepeda and his band Ritmo Caribe will perform salsa music on the library’s patio, with dancers of all skills swinging their hips to his original compositions.
To encourage people to step out onto the dance floor, the library is offering free dance lessons Monday, Aug. 11, at 6 p.m. and prior to the concert on Aug. 13. The classes and concert are free.
