Taste of La Jolla nourishes programs at La Jolla High

Strolling the streets of La Jolla, pausing to partake of delicious food samples from fine restaurants ” what better way to spend an autumn evening?
The eighth annual Taste of La Jolla offers just such an experience next Monday, Oct. 15.
Twenty-two restaurants will open their doors to participants, including Jack’s La Jolla, La Valencia Mediterranean Room, Pasquale, Jose’s Courtroom, Café Milano, Azul La Jolla, Tapenade, Crab Catcher and Zenbu. Raw-fish lovers will gravitate to Sushi on the Rock and Aloha Sushi, while pizza and other casual foods will be available at Beach House Brewery, Bull and Bear, Karl Strauss, Café Moto, Extreme Pizza and Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza.
The evening can be topped off with tasty treats whipped up by Cold Stone Creamery, Gelateria Frizzante, Truffles Café, Girard Gourmet, Baskin Robbins and Starbucks.
What’s more, participants don’t need to feel guilty about this caloric splurge because all proceeds from the event will benefit La Jolla High School through the Foundation of La Jolla High School.
The foundation assesses school needs not covered by the school district. In past years, the district has cut or reduced funding for several programs that were then saved thanks to support from the Foundation of La Jolla High School.
Tickets are $40 and are available by contacting event chair Cyndi Haskett at (858) 454-6679 or [email protected], or Eileen Pelky, (858) 518-2844, [email protected].
To contact the Foundation of La Jolla High School, call (858) 551-1250.
Any tickets available at the door will be $45, but the event usually sells out ” more than 600 tickets went like hotcakes at last year’s Taste of La Jolla.
The event runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Participants must begin by checking in at Washington Mutual Bank, 7777 Girard Ave., where they will receive a map of the restaurants and a hand stamp. Check-in will begin at 5:30 p.m.
