Guitar and blues fans likely need no introduction to Kid Ramos. Known for his fiery fretwork, Ramos is currently a member of Los Fabulocos, a Los Angeles-based quartet appearing at Tio Leo’s on Nov. 26. Specializing in self-described “Chicano rock,” aficionados of groups such as the Texas Tornados will love this band, though they do have a harder blues edge to go with their Tex Mex rhythms. One live performance is all it will take to hear why Los Fabulocos is one of the hottest bands on the Southland club circuit today. Formed in 1985, the Samples have released 15 albums to date, with the night’s set expected to mix new tunes from Kelly with band classics. Kelly will be joined by drummer John Huntsinger and keyboardist Jeremy Miller, best known for his work with Stepping Feet and 40 Oz. to Freedom. From Santo & Johnny to the Go-Go’s, the band offers up something for just about anyone looking for a night of vintage tunes. The band particularly shines on their rockabilly-tinted material, but with so many songs to choose from, it’s hard to go wrong. All ages. www.theretrorocketts.com Formed in 1973, reggae superstars Third World, who perform at the Sound Wave on Dec. 4, are one of the longest-running acts in the genre. The band has released dozens of albums and received 10 Grammy nominations in its career. On the road in support of new album “Patriots,” the new tunes find the band in fine form, though the biggest crowd response at this show will likely be for the band’s early hits such as “Try Jah Love.” Making the bill that much stronger, Mighty Diamonds open. That said, it’s a music subgenre that still yields a lot of fun bands, such as Calabrese, a three-piece combo who perform at Brick by Brick on Dec. 4. Following in those hallowed bands’ footsteps, this band’s brand of punk rock and image evoke ’50s horror movies, with amazing artwork on all of their merchandise. Currently touring behind their new album “They Call Us Death,” the band releases the first issue of its own comic book this month.
