Humphreys Concerts by the Bay has a history of featuring some of America’s most talented performers, including the Beach Boys, Paul Anka and Whitney Houston, among others. This summer is no exception.
Nine-time Grammy winner Sheryl Crow, who has sold more than 35 million records worldwide in the span of her career, will be performing at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 6. Widely recognized for her chart-topping singles “Soak Up the Sun,” “The First Cut is the Deepest” and “All I Wanna Do,” Crow has been a beloved artist in the rock community since her first album in 1994. The release of her newest album, “Be Myself,” is a special treat for anyone ready to re-live Crow’s classic ’90s style. Crow collaborates with former partners songwriter/producer Jeff Trott and record producer, mixer and musician Tchad Blake as she brings back her original sound and maintaining a healthy dose of that classic-Sheryl-Crow-sass.
Crow’s songs heavily suggest having recently made it through a tough time, with lyrics mourning the loss of a friend and a lover in “Strangers Again,” and a bitter determination to get over someone in “Alone in the Dark.” But don’t be fooled by the darker side of “Be Myself”; this album has its upbeat moments as well. Empowering lyrics in the song “Be Myself” tell of Crow’s decision to, well, be herself, while the sassy beat in “Woo Woo” adds extra punch to lyrics that address today’s sexualized culture. Crow’s concert in June promises to be an event worth attending and, according to Humphreys by the Bay’s website, every ticket purchase comes with the choice of a physical or digital copy of “Be Myself.” For more information, visit humphreysconcerts.com.
