Taking the art world by storm

Sarah Stieber is no stranger to the world of art. The 23-year-old La Jollan has immersed herself in artistic endeavors since she was a child — and the work is paying off. Stieber, a 2006 graduate of La Jolla High School, spent her childhood in art classes at the Athenaeum and the La Jolla Art Studio, where she developed a love of painting between the ages of 5 and 13. After high school, Stieber went on to Boston University to study painting and psychology. During college, she spent time honing her craft in Venice, Italy — picking up where she had left off after studying the masters at the Uffizi Museum in Florence when she was a teenager. Stieber has since returned to her California home, and it is apparent her roots have influenced her work. Vibrant colors and warm, inviting scenes permeate her body of work. Stieber has made her reappearance on the West Coast successfully. The youngest member of the Spanish Village Art Center in Balboa Park, she has had her work shown in a number of galleries, the most recent being Alexandar Salazar’s downtown space at the corner of Seventh Avenue and Broadway. Chosen as the gallery’s “artist-in-residence” for the month of June, Stieber enjoyed her first solo art show there following the opening night exhibit on July 6. The show ran through the end of July. Stieber has also hung her work in the?Cirello Gallery in North Park. Stieber has been selected as the featured artist for Effen Vodka’s “The Art of Design” party, taking place Aug. 4 at Alexander Salazar Fine Art, 740 Seventh Ave. For more information, visit www.sarahstieber.com.
