The San Diego Exploratory Foundation recently announced the launch of a logo design and brand/style guide competition for the inaugural ANOC (Association of National Olympic Committees) World Beach Games, taking place in San Diego in 2017. The deadline to submit is Jan. 29 and the winning logo will be announced on Feb. 1. This is an open and competitive process for all qualified freelance graphic designers and design firms/agencies within the county of San Diego. The selected design will receive a $5,000 compensation.
“We are thrilled to give the community the opportunity to help shape the identity of the World Beach Games. Currently, there is no existing San Diego specific logo or brand identity for the 2017 ANOC World Beach Games,” said Feben Yohannes, chief marketing and public relations officer of the Local Organizing Committee. “We want the logo to embody the active San Diego lifestyle, youthful and vibrant energy that stems from the diversity of our community.”
The SDEF will be looking for a logo which encompass the youthful energy of the beach and urban sports; celebrates life through sports, music, entertainment, technology, arts and culture; and highlights diversity – representing the 200 plus participating countries. The logo should have a San Diego centric component, be able to be paired with the ANOC logo and have the ability to be animated for digital purposes.
