The Ocean Beach MainStreet Association is seeking applicants as volunteers at the 39th annual Ocean Beach Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off Festival, set for Saturday, June 23 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age, and those 14 to 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Positions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis and tend to fill quickly. Each volunteer must fill out an individual application.
MainStreet Association is looking for 200 volunteers to sell and take tickets, sell merchandise and calculate change; sell space, distribute paint and assist mural painters; place tables and chairs during general set-up; assist at the Rock & Roll San Diego experimental music area; control traffic; and help break down the event.
Volunteers receive free water and a volunteer T-shirt, which must be worn during the shift. Volunteers must check in 20 minutes prior to shift start time at the MainStreet Association office, 1868 Bacon St., Suite A.
More than 70,000 visitors are expected for the annual tasty nosh, art, beachfront entertainment and shopping as chili contest entrants vie for the titles of Hottest Chili, Judges Award and the People’s Choice Award. Admission is free, and patrons can also take part in the creation of the annual Street Fair Community Mural.
