After 13 years of working in the beauty industry, celebrity hairstylist Sherri Belanger has opened Belle Sirène Salon in La Jolla. The salon is designed to fulfill what Belanger sees as a market gap – a lack of high-end, Hollywood-style beauty parlors in San Diego.
Belanger began her career at Jean-Philippe Salon, a place that once stood just across the street from the Belle Sirene’s current location. She returned to La Jolla after five years of styling hair in Hollywood, to find that the celebrity-level salons she was used to in Los Angeles were nearly nonexistent in San Diego. Belanger resolved to fix this by opening a parlor that would give customers the quality experience of a West Hollywood salon while still letting them feel right at home.
Belle Sirène opened in January, and its success has been undeniable. The room’s layout is simple but inviting, with a crystal chandelier and a dining-style table in the center where customers can wait. Belanger hand-picked her stylists to be open and helpful as well as talented.
