Kristina “Nina” Calderaro Server, Zanzibar Café, 976 Garnet Ave. “Nina” Calderaro serves up breakfast, lunch, dinner, delicious desserts and an assortment of delectable drinks to customers at the popular Zanzibar Café. Located in the heart of the shopping and dining district in Pacific Beach, Calderaro started working at Zanzibar Café two years ago and she says she feels fortunate to be a part of the thriving company. Calderaro has a spunky, outgoing personality that keeps her customers on their toes while simultaneously performing her job. “No matter how busy we are, I always write a little thank you note on every bill, I think little things like that go a long way,” Calderaro said. “I’ve always been a real people person. Talking is not a problem for me.” Calderaro is also aware of her demographics. “Especially here Pacific Beach, we cater to more of the younger crowd, so the connection there is a little bit easier. I think it’s really important to remember people’s names. I have a very visual photographic memory for that stuff and I think that goes a long way. I love people and I think it’s so important because you never know who you’re going to meet and the impression you’re going to make.”
