Jumping out of a helicopter 4,000 feet in the air and landing on a beach? Just an average day for La Jolla real estate agent Josh Higgins.
Skydiving is just a side gig for the Army veteran who spent more than 15 years in the real estate industry before moving his brokerage to Compass last year. He started jumping during his service and went on to make over 4,000 jumps, many of which became future real estate clients.
“It’s my version of the golf course,” he joked.
So it comes as no surprise that Higgins would help commemorate Compass Real Estate’s one-year anniversary on Feb. 6 by skydiving during CEO Robert Reffkin’s speech, without him knowing. During the lunch portion of the event, Higgins was sitting at a table with Reffkin went he excused himself.
“I was like ‘Robert, I got a meeting. I have to go but I’ll see you later today,’’ he said. “And there was a look in his eyes like ‘Dude, you’re having lunch with the CEO. What are you doing?’”
The surprise continued when Higgins landed on the beach in front to Caroline’s Cafe while Reffkin was mid-speech.
“He gave me a big hug. He was so surprised.”
