Brockton Villa, located at 1235 Coast Blvd., has announced the start of its seasonal “supper service” — a cross between a coastally-inspired menu and traditional comfort food. The special menu includes seafood dishes such as summer shrimp lettuce wraps with mango salsa, cucumber shallot salad, avocado, jicama and spicy ginger sauce; ginger-chili glazed natural salmon with coconut cilantro rice, baby bok choy and citrus butter emulsion; and Brockton Villa cioppino with shrimp, fresh catch of the day and shellfish in a tomato-saffron broth (pictured here). They’ve also reinvented the typical New York strip by adding heirloom tomatos, baby arugula, roasted sweet and Yukon potatoes, grilled asparagus and a whiskey steak sauce. Completing the menu are tasty desserts like Brockton Villa’s legendary breakfast item, “coast toast,” a creative twist on French toast that doubles as a decadent dessert when served with cinnamon or vanilla gelato. A historic La Jolla cottage built in 1894, Brockton Villa is open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Breakfast and lunch are served from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. More information is available at www.brocktonvilla.com.
