
Alex Hernandez climbed to third on Point Loma track and field’s all-time top 10 list in the 1500m, and was one of 10 Sea Lions to record a season-best time, on Saturday, April 22 at the Triton Invitational.
Hernandez placed third overall in the event, between a runner from USC and San Diego State, with a time of 4:34.62. That lifted her from fifth to third on the all-time top 10 list as she shaved 1.67 seconds off her previous career-best time. It is just 0.62 seconds off the NCAA Provisional Qualifying Standard.
The Sea Lions 4x400m relay team of Janie Unkefer, Demi White, Gianna Tesone and Avery Avina placed second at the meet with a time of 4:00.36.
Megan McFadden leaped to eighth on the PacWest Performance List with a mark of 34-8.25 (10.57m) in the triple jump. Demi White posted a PR in the 200m dash with a time of 26.95. Jordan Sienkiewicz also posted a personal record in the 1500m with a time of 4:47.14. Presley DuBois ran a time of 16.09 in the 100m hurdles. Marissa Dotter(1:02.98), Bailey Webster (1:04.51) and Sydney Smith (1:04.70) all had season-best marks in the 400m.
This was the final meet before the 2017 PacWest Championships at Point Loma on April 28-29.
