
On Wednesday, Dec. 5 at approximately 5 p.m., the San Diego Police Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call regarding an assault at 3900 Rosecrans St. near the I-5 overpass. San Diego Police officers responded to the scene. When they arrived, they found a 57-year-old white male with trauma to his upper body. Medics arrived and the male was transported to a local hospital for further treatment. Unfortunately, the male is not expected to survive his injuries. Homicide investigators were called to the scene and are handling the investigation. According to a witness, the victim was on the ground and the suspect was hitting him with an object. The suspect fled the scene and was not located. The victim has been identified but his identity will not be released at this time. The suspect was described as a black male, in his 20s, wearing a yellow poncho and blue jeans.
