
One of the top swamis of India, who has experience addressing the World Peace Summit and World Parliament of Religions, is coming to the La Jolla Yoga Center on Oct. 9. Open the public, Swami Veda Bharati will be giving a workshop in the Indian philosophy “satsang” entitled “What is right with the mind and the world?”. The event will take place at 4 p.m. at 7741 Fay Ave. and costs $49. Bharati was honored in 2005 with the title Mahamandaleshwar — the highest level by Swami order — and is the spiritual guide of the Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. He holds a Doctor of Letters from Holland and conducts lectures in 10 languages and meditation in 17 languages. A poet, author, scholar and researcher, he has participated in United Nations-sponsored dialogues around the world, covering topics including sustainable development and climate change. Bharati is the Spiritual Guide of the Association of Himalayan Yoga Meditation Societies International.
