Rock fans will want to give a listen to Zone of the Interior, performing at Brick by Brick on Sept. 20. Featuring Zachary Apps (vocals/guitar) Nay Maddox (guitar), Sean Drake (bass), Briana Wright (keyboards) and Jason Dean (drums), the band is part of a bill topped by Sprung Monkey and Approaching Fiction, with opener Hazmatt. As heard on its new self-titled album, the band is more than up to the challenge, with a slew of anthemic rock tunes. Songs like “Reliance” strike all the right chords, heavy on melody without sacrificing any of the songs’ power, while tunes such as the pounding instrumental “Mass” add touches of Mike Oldfield-like prog to the mix. Zone of the Interior’s wide stylistic brush makes it a standout, but this is a particularly strong bill. You won’t want to miss a second of this show.
