
Ali Adelman, a 16-year-old lifelong Point Loma/Ocean Beach native and a 5-year alumnus of Peninsula Youth Softball Association, became the winning pitcher for the Artesia Punishers recently, clinching the American Softball Association-USA Junior Olympic 18-and-Under National Championship at Texas A&M University.
There were 133 teams from around the country participating in the championship, including all the state champions.
Adelman attended Dewey and Sunset View Elementary schools in Point Loma before attending the San Diego Jewish Academy in Carmel Valley, where she will be a senior.
Ali recently was selected to the National Fast Pitch Coaches Association/Louisville Slugger 2007 All-West Region Team and was the 2007 Citrus Conference Most Valuable player and 2007 Pitcher of the Year.
The San Diego Union-Tribune selected her to the 2007 Union Tribune All-Academic 1st Team and also as Athlete of the Week on two separate occasions. She will be attending the University of Connecticut on a full athletic scholarship in 2008.
