
Pacific Beach resident and University of California, San Diego faculty member Dr. Mark Kritchevsky was one of six outstanding faculty members honored April 1 for excellence in teaching, research, community service and visual and performing arts during the Chancellor’s Associates Faculty Excellence Awards. Kritchevsky received the Excellence in Graduate Teaching award for his dedication to teaching medical students. He is widely considered to be a master teacher and is one of the most decorated teachers in UCSD’s School of Medicine. Award candidates are nominated by their academic peers, with final selection by a committee comprising Chancellor’s Associates donors. Kritchevsky has devoted nearly 30 years at UC San Diego to his passion of teaching medical students. He has trained every first-year medical student in basic neurology since 1989. has developed outstanding, innovative curricula for medical and pharmacy students, and neurology and psychiatry residents; he has earned more than 35 teaching awards in his career.
