Owners of The Hake Kitchen & Bar thought the eatery’s third anniversary was so cool that they’ve decided to throw their patrons a party, in the form of an ambitious renovation. The trade-off is that the restaurant, which has quickly become a big part of Prospect Street commerce, is closed until spring.
Jorge Campos’ design will add 60 seats and 2,000 square feet to the below-ground restaurant and will feature a lounge area with a new bar, an oyster bar, more expansive ocean views and increased outdoor seating. The move is part of wholesale renovations at a the 1250 Prospect St. address, which includes George’s at the Cove and Donovan’s Steak & Chop House. Campos is based in Mexico City, where Hake ownership runs several other restaurants.
The Hake features Latin-inspired seafood dishes that are locally sourced whenever possible.
