A 78-year-old white male was riding a bicycle eastbound on 4100 Loma Riviera Lane, approaching the intersection with Loma Riviera Drive about 6 p.m. on Sept. 3. A silver colored 2017 Subaru SUV was driving southbound at 3000 Loma Riviera Drive and entered the intersection with Loma Riviera Lane.
The vehicle was being driven by a 65-year-old white female. The bicyclist entered the intersection without yielding to the vehicle. The bicyclist struck the vehicle in the intersection. The bicyclist was thrown from his bike and sustained serious injuries. The male was transported by paramedics to an area hospital for treatment for life-threatening injuries. SDPD Traffic Officers along with Traffic Division detectives responded to the scene to conduct the investigation.
