Palomar Avenue east of La Jolla Boulevard transformed into a hopping Halloween block party Oct. 30. About 300 attendees, mainly parents with their kids, showed up for the event, which was a result of the time, funding and energy of residents Peggy Moore and Mike Campagna. Campagna is the owner of Cass Street Bar & Grill, located at 4612 Cass St. Families enjoyed a face painter, clown, magician and a variety of sweets and snacks, including 250 hamburgers grilled by Campagna. Once it got dark, the DJ “Ace of Music” closed the event with Top 40 tunes. While many of the younger children left, a large group of teenagers stayed to dance. The event also featured a costume contest in which “all the little ones were winners,” Moore said.
