A 70-year-old female was parked in a parking space at the CVS drug store, at 4400 Mission Blvd, on July 14 at about 11:30 a.m. The driver was trying to back out of the parking space. She accidentally put the vehicle in drive and hit the gas. The vehicle went forward and struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The pedestrian is a 52-year-old male. Drugs or alcohol impairment are not considered a factor in this accident. Traffic Division responded and will be investigating.
