The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued a beach hazard statement on March 2 that is in effect through the evening until 10 p.m. due to isolated lightning possible at the beaches on Monday.
Isolated thunderstorms will continue to occur Monday including possibly at the San Diego County beaches at times resulting in an enhanced danger to beach-goers.
Any cloud-to-ground and cloud-to-water lightning that occurs can result in injury or death to beach goers. A beach hazard statement for beach lightning means that there is the potential for cloud-to-ground or cloud-to-water lightning strikes, which could result in injury or death. Beach-goers should move indoors until the storm passes and stay away from metal objects.
