About 6,000 runners competed in the 34th annual La Jolla Half Marathon on Sunday, April 26, which started at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and ended about 90 minutes later in La Jolla Cove’s Scripps Park. Only two (one male, one female) can win, however – and this time, San Diegans Kosuke Amano and Jillian Dyer (pictured) did the honors in their respective divisions. La Jolla’s Nick Sigmon repeated as the men’s division 5K champ, with Kristen Schleicher of Solana Beach passing everybody in the women’s 5K. The half-marathon is a yearly staple for the La Jolla Kiwanis Club, which uses the proceeds toward several of its charitable causes. PHOTOS COURTESY SKYPHOTOS
