A blockage in the sewer line near Mission Bay Sports Center on Sunday, Aug. 23, has resulted in a sewage release to Mission Bay at Santa Clara Cove, south side of Mission Bay Sports Center. Lifeguards cleared the area and posted yellow closure signs. As a result, the Department of Environmental Health has issued a water contact closure for the area adjacent to the storm drain outfall due to sewage-contaminated water. Signs will remain in place at the impacted area until sample results indicate the water is safe for recreational use.
