
Rider Danny Baker from Utah, who has retinitis pigmentosa, heads into the institute, 4555 Executive Dr., on his recumbent bike. Youngsters cheered on cyclists approaching the Braille Institute Aug. 6 during the second annual Cycling for Sight ride. The 30-plus cyclists left Santa Barbara on Aug. 4, riding south through Mailbu and Laguna Beach on their 200-mile trek. They were joined by 15 local blind and visually impaired children on tandem bikes at the Torrey Pines Glider Port. The riders raised more than $30,000, which will benefit the Braille Institute of America and the Foundation Fighting Blindness.
