Before starting a 3, 219-mile cross-country bike ride March 25 from Scripps Memorial Hospital, 9888 Genesee Ave., Seth Margolies (left), a post-gastric bypass surgery patient, chats with Dr. Alan Wittgrove, who performed the surgery in 2004. Since then, Margolies has lost 200 pounds. He is scheduled to arrive in St. Augustine, Florida, on May 18.
