In 2009, Theresa Renfro incorporated en concordia with the desire to bring to life an organic home and garden and clean beauty boutique to give urban farmers, home chefs and lovers of healthy natural living a shop to call their own. Fast forward to today as Renfro and the en concordia family blow out a candle to celebrate two years of being in business.
The picturesque boutique, located on 1021 Rosecrans St. in Point Loma, provides San Diego with all things organic garden, clean beauty alongside artisanal tableware and small batch pantry items. Every product embraces the splendor of finely crafted things including sustainable, organic and non-GMO plants, heirloom seeds, natural fertilizers, California vinegars and olive oils, ethical teas, small batch cocktail and bar goods and hand-forged gardening tools.
Since its 2015 opening, the boutique has grown — like her gardens — and seamlessly blended in the following changes:
The growth of “The Shed,” an entire new room with more tools, plants and, soon, an area for visitors to participate in DIY plant potting and classes to enhance the people’s knowledge, whatever their gardening experience.
Lifestyle products straight from the sources, from all over the globe including KINTO, Herbivore, Quince & Apple, Sqirl, DeWit, SMEG and Fat Boy.
Specialty seeds and soils, gourmet consumables and a modern, minimalist aesthetic have seen en concordia blossom into a destination for locals and visitors alike.
Books, the pollinator garden, attractive furniture and decorative pieces have turned en concordia into a destination for locals and visitors alike.
“At en concordia, we layer together products that celebrate the simple indulgences that enhance daily living,” said Renfro. “We believe amazing experiences can be had by family and friends when simple acts are done thoughtfully with attention to wellness and a pure aesthetic,” she said. “Things like prepping a visually stunning charcuterie board or mixing an artful cocktail or roasting a fresh crop of tomatoes just picked from the garden.”
En concordia plans to celebrate its two years with an evening of testing all the stores best-selling products. In early September, the boutique invites everyone to stop in to sample clean beauty products, talk gardens and soils, taste small batch preserves and syrups and anniversary specials.
“We’ve had a great two years meeting new friends and neighbors,” adds Renfro. “We will continue to cultivate this mission for Point Loma, San Diego and for visitors from all over the world, along with other new ideas we have for the next two years. Stay tuned.”
