Dear San Diegans,
A few weeks ago we announced the momentous news that we had reached zero euthanasia of healthy and treatable animals in San Diego. That’s something worth celebrating. And we’re going to do that in style on Saturday, Aug. 22 when we hold our 29th Annual Fur Ball.??The Fur Ball isn’t just a party. Ok, it’s a party. But it’s much more. After nearly three decades, it’s become one of, if not the most celebrated parties in San Diego. But we’re not in the party throwing business. We’re in the business of saving lives. Animal lives as well as those lives who depend on their animal family members. This is exactly where the Fur Ball comes in.??Every year, we look at our events to determine which ones work to shed light on the needs for animals in San Diego County. We look at which events have helped us fund the surgeries, behavior work, nurseries and flight cages we need to take care of the tens of thousands of animals coming into San Diego Humane Society shelters each year. And this year, we’re looking to the Fur Ball to help us fund the greatest need of all – that is the need to keep our county at zero euthanasia of healthy and treatable animals. We got to zero. Now we have to stay there – and that takes all of us.??The funds raised at the 2015 Fur Ball will help to fund orthopedic surgeries needed to save animal lives that we’d otherwise lose. It will help to fund the Kitten Nursery we need to save the 2,000 kittens we expect to care for each year. And it will help to care for the dogs at our Behavior Center who will benefit from the individual, personalized training with our behaviorists to learn how to adapt to life with a family instead of ending their days in a shelter. In short, the Fur Ball is the lifeline we so count on to save lives and stay at zero euthanasia. So, if you haven’t bought your Fur Ball seat yet, please do. We’re counting on you.
