FREE PREDIABETES WORKSHOP

DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS

Doctors Without Borders aid worker Karen Stewart will discuss the challenges of bringing life-saving medical care to the most dangerous and remote areas of the globe at 1:30 p.m., Nov. 10, at The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center, The JAI, 7600 Fay Ave. Stewart will discuss her experiences in the field and provide attendees with an opportunity to find out more about MSF’s programs across the globe. RADIANCE: CONCERT BENEFITING VETERANS

Buddha Music Group will present “RADIANCE,” a fusion of artistic musical performances from rising stars KIYOSHI and DTO, from 7-9:30 p.m., Nov. 11, at The World Beat Center, 2100 Park Blvd. The concert aims to empower veterans and the families of the fallen and raise funds of $15,000 for the Travis Manion and Stan Lee Foundations. SENSORY STORY TIME

An inclusive story time for ages 0-8 years, of all abilities (especially those with special needs) will be held at noon, Nov. 12, at the La Jolla Riford Library, 755 Draper Ave. Enjoy stories, songs, rhymes and free play in a small group setting. PRESENTATION ON CETACEAN MATING BEHAVIORS

The San Diego Chapter of the American Cetacean Society will host a free presentation on the mating behaviors of cetaceans at 7 p.m., Nov. 13, at Sumner Auditorium, 4595 La Jolla Shores Drive. Dara Orbach, assistant professor of marinebiology at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, will present behavioral and anatomical data present in several cetacean species. Street parking only. PINECONE TURKEY CRAFT

Enjoy a classic Thanksgiving craft activity and make your own little turkeys out of pinecones, feathers, and googly eyes at 3:30 p.m., Nov. 14, at the La Jolla Riford Library, 755 Draper Ave. Free and for all ages. UNIVERSITY ART GALLERY

UC San Diego Arts and Community Engagement program will host a special panel discussion at 2 p.m., Nov. 14, at the University Art Gallery, 9500 Gilman Drive. The panel will discuss the impact of campus art galleries at the local, regional and national level, as well as what the future holds for UC San Diego. Free and open to the public. WEATHER WATCHERS

Take on the role of meteorologists and discover what makes the weather at 10 a.m., Nov. 15, at the La Jolla Riford Library, 755 Draper Ave. Explore why weather changes and then create instruments to measure it. POLAND’S PENDERECKI PIANO TRIO

The Penderecki Piano Trio will make its California debut at 8 p.m., Nov. 15, at ArtPower, Department of Music’s Conrad Prebys Concert Hall at UC San Diego, 9500 Gilman Drive. The promisingly gifted pianist Konrad Skolarski, the breathtaking virtuoso Jaros?aw Nadrzycki, and the sensational cellist Karol Marianowski are all acclaimed artists in Poland and abroad. The concert is part of ArtPower’s chamber music series. Tickets are $45-$59 and can be purchased online at boxoffice.ucsd.edu.

 

MUSIC BEYOND BORDERS

Music Beyond Borders, the groundbreaking musical duo, will perform at 7 p.m., Nov. 16, at Congregational Church of La Jolla, 1216 Cave St. The concert is apart of the church’s “Re-Discovering and Re-Defining America” series. Concert proceeds will benefit a capital campaign dedicated to the restoration of the church’s 93-year-old pipe organ. Tickets start at $10 and can be purchased by visiting lajollaucc.org/events.

 

HOLIDAY ORNAMENTS WORKSHOP

PERFORMANCE BY GLENN VANSTRUM
