BELMONT PARK FATHER’S DAY CAR SHOW
Belmont Park will host its sixth-annual Cruise to Belmont Father’s Day Fest and Car Show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., June 16. The event includes nearly 200 classic and modern cars as well as live music, a Father’s Day brunch, a cornhole tournament and a free craft for kids so they can make a homemade gift for dad this year. LA JOLLA CELEBRATES GLOBAL WELLNESS DAY
The La Jolla Village Merchants Association is celebrating Global Wellness Day with a specially themed “Enjoya La Jolla” from 3-7 p.m., June 8 in La Jolla Village. The free monthly event will include live music, entertainment, shopping, tasty treats, complimentary health screenings, fitness and wellness classes, mini beauty treatments and more. ‘WHEN THE WORLD COMES TO LIFE’
A new sculpture by Native American artist Johnny Bear Contereas will be unveiled at 9:30 a.m., June 6 at UC San Diego Muir College Quad, 9500 Gilman Drive. The art is comprised of two large aluminum panels with intricately cut figures, birds, plants representing the Kumeyaay culture, sustainability, gender spectrum, family and community. GRAMMY-NOMINATED PIANIST TO PERFORM AT ATHENAEUM
Grammy-nominated composer and pianist Fabian Almazan will perform at 7:30 p.m., June 16 at the Athenaeum Music and Arts Library, 1008 Wall St. He is making his fourth outing as a leader with his upcoming trio album “This Land Abounds With Life” debuting June 14. A Cuban native, Fabian‘s “This Land Abounds With Life” was inspired by and composed largely after his first trip back to his homeland since becoming a U.S. resident at age 7; he, his parents and sister were brought into the country through the Mexican border by Paquito D’Rivera’s mother-in-law.
