– Volunteers needed! On Thursday and Friday, May 19 and 20, eighth-grade community project presentations will be held. Meet PB Middle’s future leaders, innovators and global citizens. Students at Pacific Middle IB World School complete an eighth-grade IB community project.
They present their projects and what they’ve learned to a panel that includes at least one community member, an educator and a peer. This experience provides the students with an authentic audience, and the panel provides the students with encouragement and feedback. Help provide this experience by signing up for a panel session. Working with Recreational Music Center San Diego, students will be singing hit tunes from “Then and Now.” Also, PBE presents its 27th annual variety show, “Giant,” on Friday evening, May 20. – Friends of Pacific Beach Elementary would like to thank the sponsors and donors from the Solid Gold auction event. It was a huge success. Thanks go to the volunteers from Kate Sessions and Bird Rock Elementary for working the event. CPJMA
– This is an exciting and busy time of year at Crown Point Junior Music Academy. On Thursday, May 5, K-3 students will view a presentation by Josef Spacek and Miroslav Sekera of The La Jolla Music Society, while fourth and fifth graders visit the Gator by the Bay Festival at San Diego Bay. On Friday, May 6, the Recorder Club will perform at the San Diego Recorder Festival. – Also on Friday, May 6, from 5 to 7 p.m., the academy will have a Cinco de Mayo celebration that will include a Dance Club performance, mariachi music from Mariachi Imperial, Loteria and delicious Mexican food. – On Saturday, May 7, the Music Club will perform at Gator by the Bay. On Monday, May 9, the academy will again be sending a team to compete in the Music Memory Bee at SDSU. On Friday, May 13, members of the San Diego Symphony will present and perform for our students at the academy. FOPBSS
-Dad’s Night Out at Gallery at Land’s End and Latitude 32 for Friends of Pacific Beach Secondary Schools. Until May 5, ladies can create a registry at Gallery at Land’s End, 4984 Cass St. On May 6, from 5 to 8 p.m., dads can shop off the registries and then meet up at Latitude 32, 5019 Cass St., for some beer and pretzels.
– Casino Night and Auction, Friday, May 13, 6 to 10 p.m., Pacific Beach Women’s Club. Enjoy heavy appetizers, a dessert table, wine and beer, casino games and live music with JetPack Mojo. Proceeds benefit Mission Bay High School and Pacific Beach Middle School. $30 a ticket, $50 a couple.
