FRIDAY, April 27 The Christ Lutheran Concert Series presents “Comedy and Tragedy 20th Century Affect” with cellist Eric Moore and concert pianist Daniel Pesca. Moore is the principal cellist for the La Jolla Symphony and Pesca is a concert pianist from Chicago. There will be a free-will offering for the event at 4761 Cass St. For more information, visit www.christpb.org.  SUNDAY, April 29 Open Door Books in Pacific Beach will host a free workshop called “Writing Children’s Books/Self Publishing” and an author signing from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The event will provide a step-by-step process running from “the idea” to the bookstore shelf. The program will be presented by Cindy Schuricht, author and self-publisher of “The Pig and The Dragon,” at 4761 Cass St. and parking is available. FRIDAY, May 4 Friends of Kate Sessions Elementary School will hold its 2012 Spring Auction with a theme of “Passport to the Mediterranean.” Guests will be treated to music, appetizers and a silent and live auction. The event benefits the school’s art, music and library programs. Tickets are $15 through April 27, then $25 after. To purchase tickets, email [email protected]. SATURDAY, May 5 The Friends of the PB Library hosts its annual rummage sale from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Items include bikes, fans, vacuum cleaners, electronics, plumbing fixtures, household goods, sporting equipment and more. Drop donations at the Pacific Beach/Taylor Branch Library at 4275 Cass St. on the Thursday and Friday prior to the event between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. For more information, call (858) 581-9934. SUNDAY, May 20 • The local Soroptimist Club will host a yard sale to benefit various community projects in Pacific Beach and elsewhere in San Diego. The yard sale takes place from 8 a.m. to noon at 1234 Turquoise St. For more information, call (858) 488-0211. • “Blues by the Bay” Silent Auction and Dinner at 5 p.m. at the Mission Beach Woman’s Club, 840 Santa Clara Place. Tickets are $20 at the door and include dinner, beverages and live entertainment by the popular Big Daddy Blues Band.
