On April 20, I tasted a lot of amazingly good foods in Point Loma. I attended the Taste of Point Loma event with my Finnish friend Iida and were so full of great food after three hours, that we had to have a rest on a street bench! My four favorites were The Living Room Cafe, Bali Hai, Mitch’s Seafood and The Elegant Truffle.
The Living Room Cafe is decorated so lovely that it melted my heart. The colorful couches, vintage posters, little tables and nice terrace make the cafe truly feel like a living room. Sip a coffee or tea and have a relaxing time. Also the customer service was great.
Mitch’s Seafood had its Taste of Point Loma tasting at the street and it was a great solution. They had the best fish tacos on Wednesday night and I was left craving more.
Bali Hai had the best views in the Point Loma area. The bay is beautiful as seen from the restaurant. Also, the sweet and sour chicken was very tasty and I remembered why I love Asian food. The flavors are in harmony and support each other in a great way.
Oh my God! So good was the Oh My God-cake at Elegant Truffle that I had to shout out loud! There’s no way to describe the chocolate flavors, you have to try it yourself. The boutique of The Elegant Truffle is small but so lovely, that you want to visit every week after a good meal.
I love food festivals like Taste of Point Loma. It gives you an opportunity to see, what is going to be your favorite place to eat and compare the restaurants in the area. I will go to Point Loma to enjoy more good food. Join me! (I’m Hanna Laukkanen, a 26-year-old journalist, who moved from Finland to San Diego for an internship in San Diego Community Newspaper Group. In this blog I will compare Finnish and American lifestyles and try to find out a lot more about the Californian way of living. Please send me feedback at [email protected].)
