MUST SEE The Athenaeum’s 21st annual Juried Exhibition, one of San Diego’s most anticipated juried shows, is on display through the end of the month at the music and art library’s Wall Street location. Selected artists will exhibit their work in the newly expanded and refurbished gallery — giving the artists exposure and the public the chance to mingle with the creators. The juried exhibition has become a barometer for many promising local artists and, in some cases, a first step for some established leaders in the visual arts community. On view in the Joseph Clayes III and Rotunda galleries until Sept. 1 will be 48 pieces of art showcasing the county’s diverse talent. Each year, jurors carefully pore over hundreds of submissions. Ben Strauss-Malcolm, director of Quint Gallery, and Jill Dawsey, associate curator for the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, served as this year’s jurors.
